Mike's Maintenance Tips

Flushing your Watercraft

In our service department we see a lot of boats coming in with water in the engine. This can cause serious damage and result in costly repairs. A lot of times the water gets into an engine because of improper flushing of the watercraft.

To properly flush your personal watercraft, you must remember to never turn on the hose without the motor running.

Proper Procedure:
1. Start the engine. It is ok to let the hose run for about one minute.
2. While the engine is running, turn on your water supply "hose"
3. Let the engine run on hose for two to three minutes
4. Turn off hose while engine is still running
5. With the water off, let run for about 30 seconds and blip the throttle two to three times as this will get water out of the exhuast
6. Shut down the boat
